TOUR OVERVIEW
Get ready for an epic 10-day motorcycle adventure through the wild and rugged Spiti Valley! Picture this: high-altitude villages, ancient monasteries, and breathtaking Himalayan roads. It all starts in Delhi, where you’ll kick off your journey on the scenic Hindustan-Tibet Road, one of the world’s most adventurous highways. Along the way, you’ll witness the architectural grandeur of Padam Palace in Rampur Bushahr, soak in the remote charm of Kalpa, and experience the spiritual essence of Tabo Monastery and Caves.
Next up, you’ll ride through the stark and surreal terrain of Pin Valley National Park and Mudh Village, before reaching the vibrant town of Kaza, the gateway to Spiti. From there, you can explore Komic (the world’s highest motorable village), Hikkim (home to the world’s highest post office), Kibber, Demul, and the awe-inspiring Chicham Bridge. Don’t miss Key Monastery, a symbol of Tibetan Buddhist heritage, and marvel at the Gue Mummy Temple, which houses a naturally preserved 500-year-old monk.
As you make your way through the rugged terrains of Batal and Koksar, cross the high-altitude Kunzum Pass (15,060 ft), and ride to Chandratal Lake, a pristine crescent-shaped lake that reflects the grandeur of the Himalayas. Finally, you’ll conclude your journey through the rugged terrains of Batal and Koksar, cross the Atal Tunnel into Manali, and return to Delhi, bringing home unforgettable memories of an epic adventure.

HIGHLIGHTS
Day 1 – Delhi to Theog (8,000 ft) | ~387 km
Your Spiti Valley motorcycle adventure starts with an early morning ride from Delhi, through the plains of Haryana and into the lush hills of Himachal Pradesh. The journey begins on wide open highways before the terrain changes into winding mountain roads, climbing steadily in altitude.
You’ll pass through Kalka, Solan, and Shimla, taking in the changing landscapes—from busy cities to forests and apple orchards. After crossing Shimla, head to Theog, a peaceful hill town at 8,000 ft known for its calm atmosphere and stunning views of the Himalayan ranges.
Check into your cozy mountain stay and relax after the long ride. In the evening, relax by a cozy bonfire followed by a warm welcome dinner.
Day 2 – Theog to Chitkul (11,320 ft) | ~ 215 km
After a restful night in Theog, get ready for an epic adventure deeper into the Himalayan mountains. After breakfast, hit the road on the Hindustan-Tibet Road, one of the most thrilling and adventurous highways in India. Along the way, stop in Rampur Bushahr to admire the royal Padam Palace, a beautiful example of traditional Himachali architecture.
From there, the road takes you through dramatic cliffs like Tranda Dhank, carved into sheer rock faces, offering breathtaking views of the Sutlej River below. As you ride deeper into Kinnaur Valley, the air gets crispier and the scenery more surreal.
Arrive in Sangla Valley and continue the final stretch to Chitkul, the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibet border.
Surrounded by snow-capped peaks, alpine meadows, and wooden homes, Chitkul is the heart of Kinnaur. Explore the village, take photos by the Baspa River, and soak in the raw mountain charm.
Return to your stay in Sangla for a delicious dinner and a well-deserved rest amidst apple orchards and pine forests.
Day 3 – Chitkul to Kanda Off-Road Trail & Return to Batseri (9,000 ft) | 60 km Round Trip
Rise and shine to the crisp mountain air and breathtaking views of Chitkul, often called the last village on the Indo-Tibetan border. After a hearty breakfast, get ready for an exhilarating off-road adventure to the secluded Kanda meadows, a hidden gem known only to a select few.
The journey takes you through rugged Himalayan terrain, narrow trails, and raw beauty—ideal for those who crave adventure and peace. As you climb higher, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, wildflower-filled meadows, and maybe even some grazing yaks.
After spending some time soaking in the tranquility of Kanda, head back to Batseri, a charming village near Sangla. Known for its traditional architecture and peaceful atmosphere, Batseri is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Explore the winding cobbled streets, interact with the friendly locals, or simply enjoy the serenity by the Baspa River.
End the day with a cozy dinner at your mountain homestay, reflecting on a day that beautifully blended off-road adventure and cultural immersion.
Day 4 – Chitkul to Kalpa (9,711 ft) | ~ 75 km
Today’s ride takes you from the peaceful Chitkul to the stunning Kalpa, a tranquil village nestled above the Sutlej River in Kinnaur. After breakfast, you’ll start your descent through the Sangla Valley, retracing your steps past Rakcham and returning to the main highway near Karcham.
From there, you’ll ride along the winding mountain roads carved into deep gorges, offering breathtaking views and hairpin turns that make every mile an adventure.
The road to Kalpa gradually opens up to panoramic views of the Kinner Kailash range, with snow-capped peaks standing tall in the distance.
Arrive in Kalpa by afternoon and check into your heritage-style mountain retreat. The village is famous for its apple orchards, monasteries, and wooden houses, all set against the majestic backdrop of the sacred Kinner Kailash peak, which glows golden at sunset. Spend your evening exploring the peaceful streets of Kalpa, visiting the Roghi Village cliff point or relaxing at the local monastery.
End the day with a warm dinner, surrounded by one of the most breathtaking Himalayan views you’ll ever witness on this journey.
Day 5 – Kalpa to Tabo (10,760 ft) | ~ 160 km
Wake up to a mesmerizing sunrise over the Kinner Kailash range and enjoy a refreshing breakfast before setting off on an exhilarating ride deeper into the Spiti Valley. The journey begins with a descent towards Khab Sangam, where the Spiti and Sutlej Rivers merge in a
spectacular display of nature’s raw power. From here, the landscape transforms dramatically as you enter the barren, high-altitude desert terrain of Spiti.
A short detour leads to Gue Village, home to the 500-year-old naturally preserved mummy of a Buddhist monk, a remarkable relic of ancient meditation practices.
Continuing the journey, reach Nako Lake (12,014 ft), a serene high-altitude lake surrounded by prayer flags and traditional Himalayan homes. Visit the Nako Monastery, an ancient Buddhist site with stunning murals and statues.
Day 6 – Tabo to Kaza (Rangrik) – The Gateway to Spiti (12,470 ft | 80 km)
After a hearty breakfast in Tabo, set off on an exhilarating ride towards Kaza, the heart of Spiti Valley. The journey unfolds through breathtaking landscapes, ancient monasteries, and picturesque villages.
Your first stop is Dhankar Monastery (12,774 ft), dramatically perched on a cliffside, offering panoramic views of the Spiti River below. This monastery, once the seat of the Spitian king, is a must-visit for its spiritual significance and historical charm.
From here, ride into the mesmerizing Pin Valley (11,500 ft), home to the rare snow leopard and vibrant Tibetan villages.
Explore the quaint Mudh Village, the last inhabited settlement in the valley, surrounded by towering peaks and lush meadows.
By afternoon, continue towards Kaza, where the barren, rugged terrain of Spiti unfolds in all its glory. Arrive at Rangrik or Kaza, check into your hotel, and unwind with a warm cup of traditional butter tea. The evening is free for leisure—explore the charming streets of Kaza, interact with locals, or visit the bustling market.
End the day with a delicious dinner, soaking in the surreal beauty and tranquility of the valley before settling in for the night.
Day 7 – Kaza to Chicham / Kibber / Demul / Langza / Komic / Hikkim (12,470 ft) | ~100 km
Start your day with an early breakfast and gear up for an exciting exploration of Spiti’s high-altitude villages. Ride first to Chicham Bridge (13,596 ft), Asia’s highest bridge, offering breathtaking views of the deep Samba Lamba Gorge. Cross over to Kibber (14,200 ft), a beautiful village surrounded by vast meadows, once a major trade route to Ladakh.
Next, visit Key Monastery (13,668 ft), the largest and most iconic monastery in Spiti, where you can experience the spiritual atmosphere and admire its centuries-old murals and scriptures.
Continue your journey to Langza (14,500 ft), known for its ancient Buddha statue and marine fossils dating back millions of years. From Langza, ascend to Komic (15,027 ft), the highest motorable village in the world, home to the Tangyud Monastery. Ride down to Hikkim (14,400 ft), where you can send a postcard from the world’s highest post office. Before returning to Kaza, take a detour to Demul (14,435 ft), an isolated yet scenic village known for its sustainable living practices and panoramic Himalayan views.
By evening, return to Kaza/Rangrik for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 8 – Kaza (Rangrik) to Chandratal Lake (14,100 ft | ~100 km)
Fuel up with a hearty breakfast in Kaza and get ready for an adrenaline-pumping ride to Chandratal Lake, one of the most stunning high-altitude lakes in the Himalayas. The journey starts with a smooth and scenic ride towards Losar (13,400 ft), the last village in Spiti before entering the remote highlands. Surrounded by vast meadows and towering peaks, Losar is the perfect spot for a quick tea break and a permit check before we continue.
From Losar, the road starts to climb towards Kunzum Pass (15,060 ft), a thrilling stretch filled with winding roads, steep inclines, and rugged terrain. The pass offers a
breathtaking view of glaciers and snow-capped mountains, making it a photographer’s dream. Here, riders traditionally circle the Kunzum Devi Temple for a safe journey ahead.
Descending from Kunzum, a narrow off-road trail leads towards Chandratal Lake, an adventure-packed ride through rocky terrain and shallow water crossings. Upon arrival, a short 15-minute trek reveals the mesmerizing lake, with its shimmering turquoise waters reflecting the surrounding peaks.
Day 9 – Chandratal to Manali (6,726 ft) | ~130 km
Rise and shine to a breathtaking sunrise over Chandratal. Fuel up with breakfast and then head to Manali, crossing Batal, where you’ll find the legendary Chacha-Chachi Dhaba, famous for its warm hospitality. For adventure seekers, Koksar offers a rugged off-road stretch.
Next up, the Atal Tunnel (10,171 ft), one of the world’s longest high-altitude tunnels. Finally, arrive in Manali, where you can explore the lively Mall Road or unwind at your hotel. End your day with a farewell dinner featuring BBQ snacks and a cozy bonfire, followed by an overnight stay in Manali.
Day 10 – Manali to Zirakpur | ~270 km
Your epic Spiti motorcycle adventure is coming to an end! You’ll be leaving Manali early in the morning. Fuel up with a delicious breakfast and hit the road back to Delhi. You’ll be descending from the mountains and joining the plains of North India.
On your way, you’ll pass through charming towns like Kullu, Mandi, and Bilaspur. You’ll also get to see some beautiful riverside life along the Beas and Sutlej. Don’t forget to stop for meals and breaks along the way. Take some time to reflect on the incredible ride—you’ll be crossing high mountain passes, visiting ancient villages, and exploring some of the most remote corners of the Himalayas.
Day 11 – Zirakpur to Delhi | ~240 km
As you roll into Delhi by late afternoon, the energy of the city will be a stark contrast to the serenity of the mountains. But the memories—sunrises at Chandratal, postcards from Hikkim, and the silence of Tabo Caves—will stay with you forever.

SAFETY MEASURES
RIDING GEAR & SAFETY POLICY:
- Wearing full riding gear is mandatory at all times while riding.
- Helmet, riding jacket, riding pants, riding boots and gloves constitute complete riding gear.
- A Hydration bladder is strongly recommended.
- Riding in a safe and organized fashion is mandatory for safety of all participants.

FAQ – Health Precautions & Staying Healthy on your trip
What are the things that you need to plan before the trip?
- Up-to-date vaccinations: do not wait until the last minute
- See your family doctor a few months before the trip to verify the vaccination record and get any missing shots.
- Check you have your yellow fever vaccination card if you have been in a country where yellow fever is endemic.
- Check your general health with your physician
- If you are currently being treated for a condition:
- Make sure you have the needed amount of medication for the length of the trip. Keep a copy of your prescription with the generic name of the drug.
- Get the tests requested by your physician to ensure you can complete the trip without incident.
- If recently hospitalized, bring and have your hospitalization report in case it is need for any unforeseen medical reasons.
- Disclose the relavent details to your Trip Leader.

What are the things that you need to plan during the trip?
- Optimize your energy right from the start (rest, stress, etc…)
- Conciously practice public hygiene): frequently wash your hands to avoid any gastrointestinal problems from the beginning!
- Never set off without water – you can end up by yourself having to make considerable efforts in high tempratures and/or high altitudeputting you at risk for heat stroke and dehydration
- Monitor your urine output (it must be copious and clear)
- It is advisable to mix water with an isotonic flavored hydration mix. adding flavoring changes the feeling of thirst and may save your life. Use ORS if hydration mix is not available.
- In the rare case that you get separated from the group, do not abandon your vehicle unless in imminent danger.
- Protect yourself from mosquito bites (by always having strong mosquito repellent with you)
- Altitude sickness – usually starts with a headache and nausea. Avoid intense physical efforts at altitude until properly acclimated. If your doctor approves and you do not have any known allergies, you can use Diamox (Acetazolamide). Remember that it results in increased urination, so you have to drink additional water to compensate!
- Know when to stop – talk to the trip leader as soon as fatigue, overheating, thirst or altitude sickness symptoms are felt.
- When arriving at the rest-stops, you must hydrate – neither beer nor caffeine-based drinks are acceptable hydration. Both alcohol and caffeine are diuretics which means that they aggravate dehydration.
- Do not skip meals. Adequate nutrition is important to having a good time on the trip. Keep some emergency calorie-dense rations on your person for emergencies.
